"Cougar" The Musical

"Cougar" The Musical unleashes three divine but disillusioned women who develop a taste for hot, young men.  They let their inner cougar roar and purr, finding self-love and empowerment in the process.  The sexy, ferocious cast of three fabulous-over-forty women and one multi-talented boy toy sing and dance their way through a satiating range of original songs, from grinding blues, to doo-wop, to pop to "Julio," a romantic ballad, sung to a vibrator.  Hilarious, soulful and heartwarming, "Cougar" The Musical, is a madcap ride from Cougar Bar to nail salon to boudoir and back as the women learn to say "yes" to getting older, "yes" to trust and friendship and "yes" to proving that love is ageless.www.broadway.com

ELF--On Broadway

ELF  is a musical version of the popular film which returns to Broadway for the holiday season.  The story begins at Santa's North Pole workshop when one of the elves, Buddy, learns that he is not actually an elf; he's human. When Santa tells Buddy the whereabouts of his birth father, Buddy heads to New York City hoping to reconnect with his dad.  His father turns out to be a cranky workaholic who want nothing to do with Buddy or his Christmas-loving antics.  Buddy however developes a bond with his step-mother, half brother and a beautiful Macy's co-worker and helps restore the lost holiday spirit of his jaded New York family.

While a few changes have been made, ELF is very faithful to the popular 2003 film the show is based on.  Audiences will recognize many of the film's jokes with several new ones added.  The brassy score features Christmas carol-tinged songs and the story takes place on a brightly colored stage where Santa's workshop and the New York City skyline come to life.  There are many big dance numbers featuring the show's 25-member cast with humor prevalent throughout.

ELF is perfect for children.  Kids will love Buddy's smiley personality and be wowerd by the show's visual magic (including Santa's flying sleigh).   COME  AND  ENJOY ! !

"Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"

"Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?" is set in the fictional college town of New Carthage, "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" begins as George and Martha, a middle-aged history professor and his wife, return home after a faculty get-together.  During the party, Martha's father, the president of the college, had introduced the couple to a new teacher and his wife, and unbeknownst to George, Martha has invited them over for drinks--tonight.  As George and Martha sling insults at each other, their wide-eyed guests, Nick and Honey, arrive.  At first the young couple is disconcerted by George and Martha's bickering, but as the liquor flows, Nick and Honey find themselves drawn into their hosts' tumultuous, damaged world.  What begins as a night of fun and games quickly becomes a boxing match as George and Martha battle their guests..and each other.

After acclaimed runs in Chicago and Washington D.C., the Steppenwolf Theatre Company production of  "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" invites audience members into the cluttered living room of George and Martha for a long night of drinking and debauchery.  As the evening unfolds, two couples' darkest secrets are revealed--but the drama isn't simply painful and heart-wrenching.  George and Martha's acerbic wit is, at times, wildly funny and poetic, while Honey earns laughs as she downs glass after glass of brandy.  Edward Albee's Pulitzer Prize-winning play is a modern classic, and this newly imagined production allows audiences to view the beloved drama with fresh eyes.

"Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" is an excellent choice for mature, older teens, especially if they have studied the play or seen the movie.

"FALLING"

The story of "Falling" is about Josh, a severly autistic 18-year-old with violent tendencies.  His parents, Tami and Bill, have worked hard to create a safe and happy life for Josh and his younger sister, Lisa.  But when Bill's mother elderly mother comes to visit, the family's carefully constructed routine is thrown into a tailspin.  Each character is compelled to examine what he or she needs and wants out of life, and how Josh's presence will affect their future.  "Falling" explores the joys and challenges of raising a child with disabilities.

"Falling" is a delicate one-act play that balances the real-life drama and subtle comedy of raising a disabled child.  Deanna Jent's play offers an honest and realistic look at a struggling but loving family.  There are moments of intense drama juxtaposed with scenes of fantasy.  The five-person cast is led by Broadway veterans Julia Murney and Daniel Everidge, who enact the play's mother/son relationship with great sensitivity.  The show is structured to make audiences laugh and cry.

"Falling" is appropriate for older children and adults with disabilities.  There is some alcohol use, adult language and brief, harrowing scenes of violence, but overall the play is both educational and honest in its depiction of a family dealing with severe autism.

"Stomp"

"Stomp" is a high-energy percussive symphony, coupled with dance, played entirely on unconventional instruments, such as garbage can lids, buckets, brooms and sticks.  It is movement mads original through the use of everyday objects in non-traditional ways.

"Stomp" is a joyful, witty and wordless show that has been seen all over the world.  An eight member cast with energy to burn creates beautiful music and sly humor with found objects:  Zippo lighters, push brooms, wooden poles, hammer handles, garbage cans, inner tubes, matchboxes-and yes, even the kitchen sink.  There's no traditional narrative; both household and industrial objects find new life as musical instruments in this unique combination of percussion, movement and visual comedy.  It is a fourney through sound, a celebration of the everyday and a comic interplay of characters wordlessly communicating through dance and drum.

"Stomp" is like a party hosted by eight different and compelling personalities ranging from intense and ferocious to deadpan and sarcastic.  There is some audience participation, though no one is singled out.  A few parts of the show get loud but the majority of it is comfortable for most audiences.  "Stomp" is good for kids, the humor and fun are accessible to all audiences, from kids to grandparents.

Phantom of the Opera

Based on the 1910 horror novel by Gaston Leroux, which has been adapted into countless films, The Phantom of the Opera follows a deformed composer who haunts the grand Paris Opera House.  Sheltered from the outside world in an underground cavern, the lonely, romantic man tutors and composes operas for Christine, a gorgeous young soprano star-to-be.  As Christine's star rises and a handsome suitor from her past enters the picture, the Phantom grows mad, terrorizing the opera house owners and company with his murderous ways.  Still, Christine finds herself drawn to the mystery man.  Audiences agreeThe- Phantom of the Opera is broadway's longest-running hit, Ever!

The Phantom of the Opera is a thrilling night of theater with grand emotions.  Andrew Lloyd Webber's score, with its beloved signature song "Music of the Night," sets the mood, but you may also find yourself humming the gorgeous period costumes and simple yet grand sets.

Regarding kids-Phantom of the Opera is Grand Opera and lush romance might not be their cup of tea.  And the Phantom is a frightening guy.  There are old-fashioned scare moments throughout-a dead corpse plunging from a noose, shrieking-for-their-lives ballerinas, that disfigured face...Such sights will either send your kid burying their face in your arm or thinking it's the coolest show in town.
